Precognition of Poetry, or What Will Iwaszkiewicz Want from Jasnorzewska?

Summary/Abstract: The article is concentrated on the reading of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz’s poem entitled Kołysanka o kolibrach, published in “Skamander” in 1922. The poem is interpreted in the light of Roland Barthes’ lovers’ discourse and German Ritz’s ideas. The central problem here is that of the expression of the subject’s desire which is voiced on the level of sounds and can be discovered on the basis of images present in the poem. Accordingly with the assumption of the autobiographical character of Iwaszkiewicz’s early poetry, the author introduces the motif of his relationship with a female poet, Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska. The image of mutual relations of the two poets juxtaposed with the reading of the poem suggests the possibility of existence of the precognition of poetry.
