Summary/Abstract: In recent years, a research field called bibliometry has emerged with the application of mathematical and statistical methods to existing publications. Within the scope of bibliometry, various analyzes such as citation analysis, performance evaluations and predominant study subjects are carried out. Thus, the data related to the branch of science examined can be handled in a more comprehensive manner and the literature gap or density can be determined more clearly. To handle the studies conducted in any science with any bibliometric method enables the state of that science to evaluate from an objective point of view. Examining the previous studies from a bibliometric point of view allows us to understand that the discipline studied comes from what kind of tradition, to view the perspectives in that science better and to select the future studies better. In this study, the undergraduate dissertations in the field of Geography in the library of Istanbul University Faculty of Letters have been examined. The mentioned graduation theses were written between 1948 – 1982 and totaling 2.823. Of these, 1.230 were written in Physical Geography, 1.501 in Human Geography and 91 in Regional Geography. The main factor revealing the necessity of such a study is; the mentioned thesis is not included in a collective catalog. At this point, it is an inevitable need to classify these valuable works by handling as a whole. All theses between 1948 and 1982 were tried to be included in the study (Although some of them have imprint information, they, unfortunately, could not be reached because they disappeared.) Therefore, this study will also take charge of the duty of catalog registration.
