Summary/Abstract: Brother Antoni Kowalczyk is the first Polish Missionary Oblate of MaryImmaculate, who at the end of the 19th century set off on missions in WesternCanada. His simple, humble and given-to-God life has influenced many people eventoday. In this article, we have tried to identify his particular qualities, such as thespirit of sacrifice and the conscious connection of his own sufferings to the onesof Jesus, the trust in the intercession of Mary, and the abandon of his will for the sakeof Christ. There is also a reflection on how brother Anthony understood sufferingand the role of repentance in his spiritual life.
