Summary/Abstract: This paper seeks to analyse a few possible trends in the EU’s institutional evolution, after the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, with emphasis on the key relation between the EU Parliament and the national Parliaments of the EU Member States (in our opinion, fundamental for strengthening the parliamentary democratic type of European legitimacy and reducing the EU’s current democratic deficit). This scenario is based on the idea of developing the „new co-decision” procedure (between the EU Parliament and the national Parliaments of the EU Member States), as a means to strengthen the democratic legitimacy of the Union as a whole, in the post-Lisbon phase.
