Summary/Abstract: The concept of space, which is the main subject of architecture, is defined in many ways by many sociologists, philosophers and designers. It can be defined, in general, as a limited space which is sensorial perceived due to the man’s action performance and separates man from his environment. In this way, each space is experienced by its users in different ways. On the other hand, the users of architects question their designs by the limits of space. One of these discussions in design process benefit from the concept of “parallax”. “Parallax” is one of the conceptual basic in many fields, such as; astrology, philosophy, religion and sociology, and can be defined as a change in the apparent position of the object, in other words; the apparent displacement of an object. The concept of “architectural parallax” is firstly emerged by Slavo Zizek. In the light of Zizek’s view, the architectural parallax allows us to think about “architecture as an object” within different philosophical perspectives in order to bring new dimensions to the space and produce unlimited design versions of space. In this context, the study will illustrate the use of the concept of parallax in the field of architecture, through the building designs of famous architects, in the aim of expressing their realities beyond. The method of the study will be qualitative research method. The sampling of the research -as a typical case sampling- will be the buildings in which Slavoj Zizek mentions in his book; “Architecture Parallax”. The way of collecting data will base on the document analysis which includes the analysis of written and visual documents of the mentioned buildings. The buildings will be discussed according to the three levels where Slavok Zizek distinguishes in his book: “The Real”, “The Symbolic”, “The Imaginary” and will focus on the parallax of today’s virtual architecture phenomenon. As a result of this study, it will be theorized that parallax is used directly and/or indirectly for “certain” purposes, which they mainly refer on “globalization” by shaping building designs in today’s world.
