Summary/Abstract: All countries, regardless of size, economic and military power, political system, define, promote and defend their national interests. The Republic of Moldova is not an exception to this reality. As a state, the Republic of Moldova defines its national interests and promotes them by all possible legal means. Such a means is the EU accession. Although, since 2003, European integration has been proclaimed as the highest priority of Moldovan foreign policy, its effectiveness can be observed depending on the internal policies that a state is determined to implement. Steps taken by the government of the country had different contents, intensities and achievements.
