Summary/Abstract: As the primary source, tacit knowledge in the enterprise is considered experience in action. It shall be deemed that implementation of activities to support the knowledge sharing can bring business benefits, such as: time reduction for documentation development, time reduction for process realization, optimization internal processes, higher customers satisfaction, etc. The research is distinguished by comprehensive approach to Polish manufacturing companies from the small and medium-sized business sector. Accordingly, the context for the research is the research and development department of the production enterprise with specific business processes, carried out by employees. There are explicit and tacit knowledge. The following research problem was formulated: is the application system for supporting tacit knowledge management dedicated to this department and will it effectively support the knowledge management process and help to achieve defined benefits? Based on the literature review and own observation, the article identified the processes associated with the knowledge sharing. In the result above, aided by own observations in local enterprises, a model supporting tacit knowledge transfer in production enterprise with own R&D unit of automotive industry was drawn up. It takes into account not only the knowledge acquisition, but also factors determining the process.
