Summary/Abstract: Family businesses face challenges arising from trends from a  globalized market economy and the interest to survive, stay and grow and it is necessary to have an effective financing that favors the realization of its activities optimally. This article presents results of a research process that addresses the phenomenon related to the funding sources of the family company organized as a cooperative. The objective study is to analyze the options of financing sources of the fishing cooperative in Sinaloa. The fieldwork was developed with a qualitative approach and descriptive. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews managers of cooperatives. The results show that the cooperative uses personal lenders, customers and government subsidies to finance the purchase of fishing equipment, materials and tools for the development of its activities; concluding that in order to carry out its operations, the cooperative takes external financing because it does not generate sufficient cash flows to meet its commitments to reflect illiquidity and limited capacity to manage the cooperative incomes.
