The Significance of Legal Terminology as a Modern Discipline in Enhancing the Clarity of Legal Documents and Legal Communication

Summary/Abstract: Language service providers face new challenges as a result of recent global technological developments. The Hungarian Office for Translation and Attestation (OFFI) answers these challenges by offering modernised solutions ensuring access to quality assured language mediation services and enhancing positive customer experiences. OFFI’s terminology development projects also serve this goal. In the terminology database of the state-owned Hungarian translation office, we work out the most important terms of the Hungarian legal system and public administration. These terms are not only necessary for translators, interpreters and those working in judicial proceedings (judges, lawyers, judicial experts and others involved) when they are engaged in judicial language mediation activities in Hungary but may also provide useful language contents for international (legal) comparisons.
