THE APPEARANCE OF FICTIONAL NARRATIVES IN PAINTING THROUGH MARC CHAGALL, KIKI SMITH ve PAULA REGO EXAMPLES

Summary/Abstract: In this research, fairy tale.a kind of fiction.is discussed from a perspective brought forward by the paintings of important artists such as Marc Chagall, Paula Rego and Kiki Smith. Fantastic notions, shaping the fairy tale universe while cultivating individuals’ imagination, stimulate new ways of thinking and create new pathways in human mind. Modern artists have created authentic dimensions and narrations upon being impressed by this fantastic world of fairy tales. These narrations can be conceived as the way of said artists’ interpretation of fairy tales from their own perspectives. Similarly, artists, chosen for this research, interpreted tales in a unique way. Marc Chagall painted with an epic expression while staying faithful to tales’ context whereas Paula Rego and Kiki Smith provided further dimensions for the topics by altering the content of them.
