Summary/Abstract: The article presents a few considerations on the development of communications at distance, especially in the last 30 years and this phenomenon’s effects on all social life’s dimensions of the entire humankind. In this context, it is underlined the role of these systems and networks in Romania and in the neighboring countries in the intensification of cross-border cooperation in political, economic, financial and security issues.
