Summary/Abstract: Attila İlhan, one of the last representatives of socialist poetry written by the 40 generation and a quite fertile poet, handles socialist themes with a sensitivity that is expressed by a language in which “I” is put at the forefront. Romantic elements can be observed and identified in Attila İlhan’s poetry in two different forms: A kind of romance is built by highlighting individualistic sensitivities that reflects his adventurer temperament. Another kind of romance is built by handling various themes which includes and pictures socio-political side of Romanticism movement. This article examines how Attila İlhan handles various themes such as heroism, liberty, homeland along with characteristics of Romanticist movement.
