Summary/Abstract: The objective of the contribution is to present, in a simple way, the impact of the project of the US Antiballistic Missile Defence on the political situation in the Czech Republic, public opinion, and the relations between the Czech Republic and the U.S. The presentation consists of several parts and it is focused mainly on explaining the reasons for U.S. engagement in the Czech Republic, it shortly describes the basic facts concerning antiballistic missile shield in Central Europe, highlight the timeline of US - Czech negotiations and its most interesting or crucial points. The attention is paid to the cancellation of the project, its reasons and outcomes and an important part of the contribution is dedicated to the presentation of public attitudes and political consequences in the Czech Republic and abroad. The contribution is finished by a short summary of the project impacts.
