Summary/Abstract: Games play a major, vital role in any human's life. A child learns, grows and develops by playing games. Games are a base activity which promotes various aspects of physical and psycho-motor growth, socio-emotional and cognitive development, and fosters speech, communication, expression and creativity. This paper will principally focus on pedagogical and didactic games and their application in teaching "My environment" classes. The traditional school divorced teaching from playing games, which is every child's natural need. This is why the teachers should strive to attain the ideal of integration of games into classes in the lower grades of elementary school. Contemporary teaching and modern teachers have become ever more successful at devising models that combine games and learning. In terms of learning incentives, playing games acts as an intrinsic motive. The teacher takes on the responsibility of expanding the repertoire of teaching methods with various game types and honing the skill to apply suitable game activities in class. The teacher who uses games in their classes will surely motivate students to apply themselves and learn. "My environment" provides ample opportunities to learn through playing games. The children get to learn about the world that surrounds them, the seasons, animals and plants, the way from home to school, the traffic, the institutions of cultural and public importance, personal hygiene and many other topics which hold immense importance for the student's emotional development and the development of a positive attitude towards their environment. The aim of this paper is to argue that games constitute the ideal learning medium for the "My environment" class, i.e. confirm the positive role of playing games, which can be used regardless of the lesson type, be it a development, drill or review lesson.
