Summary/Abstract: This study aims to reflect on the existence and promotion, in the Romanian legislation, of some legislative instruments that marked the evolution of the “equal opportunities” concept. Analyzing the present legal norms that regulate the principle of equal opportunities between men and women, we propose to make an overall perspective regarding the depth of gender dimension in Romania both before and after 1989, in the context of the economic, social and political transformations and also as a consequence of joining the European Union.
