Summary/Abstract: The Eight immortals are bright figures in Chinese mythology. Their appearance and features are pretty unique as well as the stories they appear in. Their power can be transferred to a power tool that can bestow life or destroy evil. The 8 Immortals are considered to be signs of prosperity and longevity, so they are popular themes in ancient and medieval art. Each of them represents a different aspect of Daoist perfection.
