Summary/Abstract: The study explores two different answers to the question “how important Black Sea Area (BSA) is?” The first answer is based on the ideas and concepts of Zbigniew Brzezinski: BSA is an area where 60% of the really significant geostrategic players and pivots in Eurasia, plus USA are clearly present (by means of either geographic presence or major interests of all sorts). This very feature makes BSA really significant for continental and global security. The second answer is based on history: BSA is significant because in several occasions it was a target/goal of great powers in the context of major conflicts and/or wars.
