Summary/Abstract: The focus of this paper is on female Ottoman scientists, whose results of the research work were embedded in today’s osmanistics. The aim of the paper is not of a bibliographic character, but rather the tendency to define the circumstances that the work of female Ottoman scientists was limited or left in the shadow. The circumstances have been changed largely in accordance to major social-political changes, but it was no longer just a matter of more female scientists in the field of osmanistics. There was a disagreement with regard to the methodology and level of research, changes in the education system of the Ottoman scientists, and problem has remained in the definition itself of what this term covers.
