Summary/Abstract: „Statu la vase”... a traditional custom practiced with great pride and cheer in Şugag (in the Sebeş Valley), on the second day of Easter, is a part of the traditional ceremonies and rites which integrate newly formed families into the local community. On Easter Monday, all the couples who married in the previous year, accompanied by their godparents, are “presented” to the community, in the churchyard. Following this occasion, friends and family of the new married couples offer them gifts, mostly useful things (traditional cutlery, dishes etc.) for their new household.
