Summary/Abstract: This report is produced as part of the ANR Translit and COST IS0906 Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies project hosted by the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris. The project examines media and information literacy policies and education in 29 European countries following preset dimensions. The country report about Hungary offers a short historical background of media education, looks at the legal framework of media literacy education, and presents data on the content and form of media education, on funding, and on evaluation mechanisms. It also discusses the main concepts and values guiding MIL policies in Hungary and offers some recommendations for the improvement of the field.
