Summary/Abstract: The depopulation trends that are in great expansion in most developed countries in the last few decades have become the demographic reality of developing countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. The extremely low birth rate (natality) and the fertility rate that is well below the limit of basic reproduction of the population, in Bosnia and Herzegovina has reached record low values compared to the EU countries, which leaves no one indifferent, and points to the great importance of considering adequate pronatal activities with the goal of stopping negative trends and investing efforts to remedy the negative consequences of such a situation. Population policy as an integral part of the overall social policy that is developed by a certain country, should definitely take its position in the post-transition demographic period. According to the official statistics of the Agency for Statistics, Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to the group of countries with the lowest fertility rate, which in the long run represents a great challenge with the consequences which will be faced by our society.
