Summary/Abstract: Vitamin D, as a hormone, plays a significant role in the regulation of calcium and phosphate homeostasis, regulation of metabolism, regulation of immune responses in infections,autoimmune diseases, cancer prevention, preservation of cognitive functions, the onset of disease bones and muscles. The role of vitamin D in the development of nerve cells was discovered, and the lack of many neurodegenerative diseases (multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and epilepsy). Vitamin D has a significant effect on heart and vein disease, on high blood pressure, on various types of cancer (especially breast, colorectal and prostate cancer) and on the health of bones and muscles. The lack of vitamin D is associated with an increased risk of mental health disorders. The main source of vitamin D is 7-dehydrocholesterol (provitamin D3) found in the skin (Epidermis). The status of vitamin D primarily depends on the rational exposure of the sun and varies during seasons. Active form D-vitamin is a calcitol, the value of which is laboriously demonstrated.
