Summary/Abstract: Bosnia and Herzegovina has a long and rich past. In its millennial existence, there have been numerous significant historical events. One of them was the battle of Banja Luka on August 4, 1737. In that battle, the Bosniaks successfully confronted the Austrian army led by Prince Josip Hildburghausen. Although weakly armed, the defenders of Bosnia under the command of Bosnian Vezir Ali Pasha Hekim-oglu with their military skills and personal heartbeat managed to defend themselves from the attackers and preserved the territory of Bosnian Ejalet then. During the Ottoman-Austrian war (1717-1739), the patriotism of domestic people came to a full expression, which successfully defended them. They saved Bosnia, but also their identity. That is why Banja Luka’s battle was one of the brightest pages of Bosnian-Herzegovinian past. Numerous scientific, literary and artistic works also spoke about its significance.
