BOSNIAN AJAN ACADEMICIAN AVDO SUĆESKA. ON THE OCCASION OF 90 YEARS OF ACADEMICIAN PROF. DR. AVDO SUĆESKA’S DEATH

Summary/Abstract: Among the most important Osmanists of Bosnia and Herzegovina of 20th century, it is inevitable to mention the name of academician Prof. Dr. Avdo Sućeska. He belonged to generation of Osmanists who made that Sarajevo, through knowledge and works during the last century became the center of Osmanistics not only in the ex-Yugoslavia but also in the wider region. Together with Safvet-beg Bašagić, Milan Prelog, Vladimir Ćorović, Vladislav Skarić, Hamdija Kreševljaković, Šaćir Sikrić, Nedim Filipović, Branislav Đurđev, Hazim Šabanović, Besim Korkut, Adem Handžić, Mehmed Mujezinović, Alija Bejtić, Omer Mušić, Ešref Kovačević and many others, he was in circle of prominent orientalists and historians of the Ottoman period. Although he died on December 21st, 2001, his work is still alive, valued and respected. However, besides of academician rich scientific opus, some knowledge of academician’s life and work are not available for many people. Consequently, we give a few basic data from professor's life and scientific activity
