Summary/Abstract: The main goal of this study is an analysis of the historical, socio-cultural determinants (the emergence of Christianity) and of the linguistic mechanisms that triggered the lexicalizing process of new concepts. I will investigate how the profile of the Koiné Greek language is configured in the context of the sacred, Old- / New-Testament literature, evaluating the biblical Greek concept in light of recent philological research. An important aspect of this approach will be the incursion into the high register of patristic discourse, the archaizing Greek of the Fathers of the Church being related to the classical tendencies promoted by the Atticist diglossic movement.
