Summary/Abstract: Daily butterflies are known to be a diverse, interesting and ecologically important group of insects. Considering their high abundance in the area of Gornja Tuzla and its surroundings, the aim of this study was to establish the diversity of daily butterflies from the families Pieridae, Lycaenidae and Papilionidae. In the course of the research, which covered the period May-October 2009 and 2012, we came to the conclusion that of the three surveyed families, the Pieridae family is the most numerous, the second largest is the Lycaenidae family, and the least numerous is the Papilionidae family. Within the family Pieridae the most numerous species are Colias croceus and Colias hyale, while the least numerous species are Pieris napi and Pontia edusa. When it comes to the family Lycaenidae, the most numerous species are Polyommatus icarus, and the least numerous are Polyommatus bellargus, Lycaena phlaeas and Lycaena tityrus. The Papilionide family is the least numerous in the area and is represented by two species: Iphiclides podalirius and Papilio machaon.
