Summary/Abstract: The paper overviews different perspectives of innovations in the economy. Taking empirical data of the biomedicine sector, the EU policy insights on innovation, as well as Lithuania’s data of the public healthcare sector, the paper provides insights aiming to define the specificity of innovations in the biomedicine sector and to suggest further research directions which could contribute economic theory and practice.
