Summary/Abstract: The international policy promoted by Romania during the communist period conferred the status of diplomatic independence and offered numerous economic, cultural and technical-scientific advantages meant to bring to the Romanian people the progress of the contemporary time. From simple friendship visits, to secret visits or spontaneous meetings at international congresses and conferences, the two heads of state have been able to highlight the most important values of Romania and to take advantage of every opportunity given by the international community.Argued by four primordial directions that involved cooperation and solidarity with all socialist countries, with developing and non-aligned countries, friendship with capitalist countries and expanding relations with all states regardless of the economic, political and social order, the international policy of Romania found applicability in strengthening its relations with Asian states such as China, North Korea, Japan, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel, India, Philippines, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The pacifist reasons, but also the economic interests, guided Romania in the significant increase of the commercial exchanges, the promotion of the security interests, the liquidation of the underdevelopment and the acceleration of the socio-economic progress, the support of a campaign to help the states with a weak infrastructure and the inability to promote the resources and their own wealth.
