Summary/Abstract: The analysis focuses on recent revisions, in Italy, of social welfare systems in relation to Western demographic transformations. The focus of the study is dedicated to the exploration of services in the field of forms of care and assistance, in the more general area of chronic long-term illnesses in which to combine health care with social work projects in the most direct forms taking charge. Furthermore, the work also analyzes the role that the so-called “do-it-yourself welfare”, or informal care work, represents in the context of institutional welfare.
