Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the Greek translation of the Jewish scriptures, the characteristics of the translation, the scientific theories about the origin and process of translation. The aim of the paper is to define the term “Septuagint” and the status this translation occupies in modern science, that is, to point out the importance of the Greek translation as an important testimony to the development of the biblical text.
