Testimonies of Necrologies

Summary/Abstract: The paper bibliographically analyzes the necrologies published in the Official Gazette of the Orthodox Church in Kingdom of Serbia in the period from 1900. to 1914., that is the first period of its publication. Along with bibliography the manner of their publication is also described, which graphically and symbolically indicates the ecclesiastical, secular and social position of the departed. Necrologies point to the various events in the lives of people, and as a rule are full of information that leads to other sources and literature. Information on public figures close to the Church and priests who were the pillars of spiritual but also cultural development of our nation has encouraged the creation of this bibliography. In addition, the research was motivated by the knowledge that the necrologies of important figures in secular professions – scientists, writers and politicians from Serbia and other countries – were also published in the Official Gazette.
