Summary/Abstract: This report is devoted to the analysis of some examples illustrating the bond between public authorities and the protection of the private interest in Ancient Rome. The main objective is to determine the Roman conception concerning the relation between the exercise of the subjective rights and the intervention of the public authorities in private relations in spite of the will of the parties. By analyzing examples of the law of obligations and law of succession, the present article aims to draw general principles relevant to the interaction between the public authority and private relations.
