Summary/Abstract: Roman jurisprudence is mediated in modern European legislation. It has created juristic methods that are still in full use today and undergo a permanent upgrade. Roman law is a historical monument of the highest values. The process of converting and transforming Roman law into medieval ius commune – as a common law of the period – has not been sufficiently explored. Recipiated Roman law is taken as a model in current debates on the harmonization, unification and harmonization of private law in the countries of the European Union. Modern legal science has gained international character through Roman law. Instrumentary and doctrinal potential of the common law – ius commune have an embryonic substance in Roman law. The reception of Roman law is a complex cultural and historical phenomenon that should be viewed as a process of scientification of European and global legal culture. The history of Roman law and the process of its reception can be understood as a history of Roman legal tradition.
