"Outside the box" Education - the Finnish Education System

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the concept of „ouside the box”education which is the education that happens in our natural environment: in the neighborhood, around the dinner table, in the garden, wherever we meet up and have the chance for positive exchange. If we come together in a spirit of positive action as opposed to pointing out our issues, we will have stronger and healthier individuals, families and communities. In Finland, traditional methods of education, where students tend to learn subjects from a course book and then copy the answers, have proven not to motivate students enough. In this simple process, students are not encouraged to spen any time thinking. Teaching subjects is overrated, the future is the phenomenon-based learning.
