The Project "In Context/Slanic-Moldova", a combination of art, science and nature

Summary/Abstract: „In Context/Slanic‑Moldova”, is a contemporary art and experimental music residency program aiming to inspire artists to develop their practice and create work in non‑studio and non‑gallery spaces, through engaging with new geographies, audiences and socio‑economic contexts. Activities, performances, talks and exhibitions seek to contribute to a lively and ongoing experiment that finds its ethos in the natural resources of the majestic resort known for its healing mineral springs, as well as in the rich culture and traditions of the Romanian mountains, one of the last virgin ecosystems in Europe. In Context/Slanic‑Moldova is aiming to become a centre of contemporary art, ecology and human development, a transdisciplinary learning lab through art and science as complementary ways of exploring the world. The resort becomes a living museum, a space dedicated to presentations, debates, film screenings, group readings and specialized workshops aimed at informing the public about the ecological breakdown and its immediate and future consequences, inspiring a collective search for fresh solutions and ideas for extending the life on Earth of all animal and plant species that inhabit it.
