Local election committees in 2010 and 2014 local elections in Tychy

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the presentation, analysis and evaluation of role in the urban policy so-called local election committees on the example of their participation in the 2010 and 2014 local elections in Tychy – one of the larger towns with county rights in Silesia. Was taken account a historical conditions and the effects of competition among party/supra-local and non-partisan/local actors for political position in the city along with the trends that developed during the whole period of existence of the contemporary local self-government, starting with the first democratic elections in 1990. Conclusions present an assessment of the current situation on the political scene in Tychy and some reflections relating to the possible processes in the future.
