Summary/Abstract: The problem of the Early Neolithic in north-western Romania became somewhat clearer following archaeological excavations in 1970-1980s at sites such as Homorodu de Sus, Homorodu de Mijloc, Dumbrava, Fughiu, SUplacu de Barcău and Zăuan. In the last two decades, important discoveries took place during field surveys, their attribution to the phases IIIB/IVA of the Starcevo-Criș culture being based on certain elements of the pottery decoration, such as the pinches or the barbotine; nevertheless, these elements were more or less present during the immediately following stages of the Pișcolt culture area. Until recently, it was considered that it was at this late chronological horizon that the anthropomorphic vessels appear in the Starcevo environment, with types that would develop further during the next stages of the Neolithic. Two such pieces had already been published originating from north-western Romania. In this context, we present here three more such artefacts: two from Tășnad-Sere and one from Homorodu de Sus-Ograda Borzului.
