Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this paper is to discuss the ideas of Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o on language policy in postcolonial Africa in connection with the key ideas of postcolonial theory. To that end some cultural, social, and political thoughts of Ngũgĩ will be presented, particularly those regarding language as a means to legitimize and execute the power, its role in the struggle against neocolonial dependency, social and political commitment of African writers and their language choices.
