Upper Silesia and Silesian-ness as topics of the election campaign for the Parliament of the Silesian Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: Parliament of the Voivodeship constitutes an authority that expresses the most important regional interests. Therefore, the electoral appeal of the candidates for councilors of the Silesian Voivodeship should reflect regional interests of Upper Silesia and the Silesian regionalism should become one of the main themes of the election debate. Is the issue of Silesia reflected in the campaign led by the election committees and individual candidates? Are Upper Silesia, broadly understood Silesian-ness and the idea of Silesian regionalism presented in their electoral offer and to what extent? What are the reasons for (lack of) the presence of the test problems in the electoral appeal of 2014? How did it affect the result of the election? These questions are key to the analysis based on the quantitative and qualitative studies of the official websites and Facebook pages of the election committees, that registered a list of candidates for the election to the Parliament of the Silesian Voivodeship in 2014, as well as individual candidates for the Parliament of the Voivodeship councilors.
