Summary/Abstract: Wittgenstein bases his effort to eliminate theoretical philosophy, especially ontology, in his assertion about the meaninglessness of its propositions and notions – the most general ones. This work demonstrates, via defining “meaning” as “that which points to something else”, that the most general notions and propositions can be meaningful. The meaninglessness of philosophical propositions does not stem from their mere generality, but rather from them being potentially tautological. In that case, if philosophical propositions can be deemed meaningless, then the same must apply to the propositions considered meaningful by Wittgenstein: the ones of natural science.
