Summary/Abstract: The paper calls attention to the cultural solidarities that defined Timişoara during the interwar period. Some of the most important journalists, writers and artists in Timişoara (Romania) are sketched by emphasizing their teamwork and friendship, no matter their ethnic origin: Franyó Zoltán, Aurel Buteanu, Ion Stoia Udrea, Méliusz József and Virgil Birou. To put it briefly, this study tries to suggest the boundary that separates cultural truth from political delusion – a boundary drawn by the desire of turning Timişoara into a „world stage city”.
