Summary/Abstract: The article examines the consequences of introducing the presidential system into key areas of Turkey’s political system, while identifying the potential benefits but also challenges and perils of new constitutional solutions. The introductory part of the article sheds light on the key tendencies, turning points and acute problems of the political system so far, with an emphasis on the evolution of its presidential element. The central part of the article is dedicated to the political context of introducing the presidential system and analyzing the impact of the new constitutional provisions on the institutional and non-institutional aspects of Turkey’s political system. The author recognizes the double potential of constitutional amendments, which can at the same time contribute to greater functionality and efficiency of the system, but also seriously jeopardize its legitimacy, delicate balance and fragile political stability.
