Summary/Abstract: This article covers the relations between the family lives and careers of contemporary womenand men. The process of intertwining family with work is visible in male and female lives. Thetext analyses the most important transformations in the roles of women and men in scopeof “gender contract”, which have occurred in Poland and in Europe in recent years. Due tothe growth in equality between women and men resulting from Poland joining the EuropeanUnion and the socio-cultural and economic changes, the relations between males and femalesare also changing rapidly, liberating themselves from cultural and traditional pressure. Thisleads to the following question: What does it mean, however, for men, and what for women? Andwhat are the consequences for their functioning? This is particularly important in the contextof relations between family lives and careers, because this is an area of frequent conflictsbetween spouses.
