Method of calculating the date of the first sitting of the Sejm

Summary/Abstract: The author presents three different, legally permissible positions concerning the date of the first sitting of the Sejm. The first of them is based on a strict interpretation of the four-year term of office of the Sejm. The second allows it to be extended because of certain constitutional provisions. The third points out, that a four-year term of office does not imply a rigid definition of the starting and ending dates of powers of the Sejm of a current term. In the author’s opinion, tordering of the elections to the Sejm and Senate to be held on 13th October 2019 implies the application of the last concept.
