Summary/Abstract: The interpretation of inspired texts begins already in the Bible. One of the first interpreters is Paul, who often refers to the books of the prophets of the Old Testament and rereads them. He is aware, that he is “,set apart for the Gospel of God, the Gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures” (Rom 1, 1-2). In the Gospel, which he proclaims, he sees the fulfillment of the prophetic announcements of the Old Testament. Paul interprets the prophetic texts and on their basis explains his apostolic vocation and the ministry of proclaiming the Gospel. He is not only – as the prophets – sent by God and mediator between God and people, but the representative and the deputy of Christ.
