Summary/Abstract: The “Oko Jelenia” saga written by Andrzej Pilipiuk is a story about the three characters: Marek, Staszek and Hela, transferred in various circumstances, in time to 16th-century Norway where they seek an artifact called “Oko Jelenia” (“Deer’s Eye”). There are many references to Christianity and Catholicism in the novel; dogmatic, liturgical and moral issues that become the background of events. The characters pray, talk about moral and dogmatic issues, follow the commandments and fulfill works of mercy towards the soul and towards the body. As a result of the analysis of the novel, it was shown that its content is consistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church, and the saga, as a product of culture, can have its place in evangelization broadly understood and in catechesis for readers; also it can be a collection of examples and references for catechists and preachers.
