Summary/Abstract: Personal computers, tablet computers, e- readers, smart phones, technology has occupied space between us and knowledge. Technological giants, like Google, Apple or Sony, are digital literacy turned into a moving target. Social networks have proved helpful in disseminating information about events and services of the libraries as a direct communication tools. Library and heritage institutions can be popularized with wider and heterogeneous communities. Activities of libraries through social networks can contribute to building an active online community, while simultaneously validating and actualizing the significance cultural heritage institution. Libraries have to keep their participation in both circles, both traditional and digital, because they have always been and continue to be intermediaries between knowledge and society. Our challenge is to raise general consciousness or how much we, as mediators, contribute to the progress of the knowledge society where we are, as well. By using digital technologies, libraries digitize collections and make them better available.
