Pitesti - Paradigm of dehumanization

Summary/Abstract: The present paper presents a dark period in our communist époque: Piteşti phenomena. Here, the prisoners were re‑educated through torture in order to become new human beings. Re‑education was accomplished by the application of continuous physical tortures accompanied by brainwashing. The aim pursued by the Security was not only to break down the living forces of a political movement (whatever it was), but also to annihilate methodically and without the possibility of recovery, the opposition force of the total of the young detainee. The Piteşti experiment meant, in fact, an intellectual maltreatment.
