Summary/Abstract: The Franciscans from Bosna Argentina province are among the most active missionaries of the Catholic Church in Southeastern Europe in 17th century. They carry out their activities in a vast region in the lands under the direct Ottoman control, as well as in the Ottoman vassal state to the north of the Danube. Bosnian Franciscans are important for the formation of the Bulgarian Catholic community. The Bulgarian and Bosnian Catholics are closely related during the 17th century and Bulgarians often take part in the Bosnian Franciscans’ missions in Ottoman Hungary, Transylvania, Wallachia and Moldavia. These relationships reveal interesting and widely unknown aspect of the history of Southeastern Europe.
