Summary/Abstract: The article analyses Polish newspapers and weeklies dealing with the death of President Paweł Adamowicz and related events in Gdansk. The press material is viewed from the perspective of strategic places in a press text, which make it possible to determine the strategies of presenting events by various press titles, the manner of portraying the deceased, and the degree of emotionality and to indicate elements of the rhetoric of hatred in press releases. Relevant analyses are preceded by observations regarding hate speech and death in the media.
